West Texas benchmark oil price lost in the opening hours on Monday to $49.45 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Commerzbank noted on Friday that the oil rig count last week was the smallest in seven weeks. "Evidently, the strong recovery in oil prices since the end of January has slowed the scaling back of drilling activity."
