Statoil announced installation of the world's first subsea wet-gas compressor at the Gullfaks C platform in the North Sea in June 2015. The Gullfaks subsea compressor project was designed and installed by Subsea Seven. The subsea compressor will add 22 million barrels of oil and extend production by two years. Steinar Konradsen, representative of Statoil, says “Subsea wet gas compression is a game changer for subsea processing, and an important technology to increase recovery also on other fields.”
