The final plan to tackle greenhouse gas emissions from coal-fired power plants will be released on Monday. The revised Clean Power Plan hopes to reduce carbon emissions by 32% by 2030 based on 2005 levels. This is a 9% increase over the original plan. Sweeping changes for the U.S electricity and energy sector are planned. The goal is to shift from coal-fired power generation to more renewable energy. Several industry groups and states will challenge the plan in Congress. Obama said, "My administration will release the final version of America's Clean Power Plan, the biggest, most important step we have ever taken to combat climate change."
