China’s Foreign minister, Wang Yi, has asked U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry to support direct talks between China and the Philippines over the South China Sea. China has refused to accept the July 12 decision by the Court of Arbitration in The Hague that ruled in favor of Manila. The request is unusual, because the U.S. supported the Philippines in the settlement over shipping lanes and resources, and China has blamed the U. S. for “stoking tensions in the South China Sea.” Wang Yi stated that the dispute should get back onto the “correct” track and be resolved by direct talks of the concerned parties.
