The number of oil and gas rigs operating in the U.S. rose by eight this week according to Baker Hughes. Seven of the rigs were to natural gas sites. Prior to this week most of the increased rig count had been for oil rigs, which stands at the highest number in seven months. Oil prices rallied despite the rising rig count.
