For many years the oil and gas industry and particularly the big oil companies have backed Republican candidates against “green” Democratic candidates. This year is different and energy money is going to the Clinton campaign for President. Oil money is still backing state and local candidates, but according to the Center for Responsive Politics the Clinton campaign has received $550,971 in donations compared to $153,974 for Trump. ”O&G contributions to Trump show that the industry doesn’t believe that America under his presidency “will accomplish complete American energy independence.”
