On Sept 9th, the U. S. court degreed that the pipeline complied with Federal law and permitted the 1,100 mile Dakota Access pipeline. Later in the day, after the courts had given the go ahead on the proposed crude oil pipeline, the U.S. Army has announced it will not allow construction on Army Corps lands near a large lake in North Dakota. In a joint statement on Friday, the U.S Justice, Interior and Army Departments requested a voluntary halt to construction near the lake, while they review the case. Native American groups had protested construction near the lake saying the pipeline endangers rivers and sacred lands.
